We’ve all heard the airline speech about putting on your own oxygen mask before assisting someone else. We see the logic in it, and in our minds, we understand that if an emergency occurs, that is what we’re supposed to do. In real life, when things happen, logic can fly out the window, and people can do some crazy things when our survival instinct kicks in.
I’m writing this in November 2025 in the US, which is my home country, and observing the state of the union that is the United States, and more importantly, the people in those states. The polite face of society has not only fallen, but shattered into millions of pieces. Things people whispered in the privacy of their homes are now being shouted in the streets.
Right now, some people are having the time of their lives as everything they believe is coming true before their eyes, for others, it’s their greatest nightmare. Complacency is coming to an end for some people as they fill the streets in protest.
What does this mean in terms of energy?
If you run an event or an organization, or even a household, you understand that it’s essential to set the tone of the environment. Let’s take a look at a household. It doesn’t matter who lives there. Usually, there are one or two people who establish the household’s routines and energy. That could be a home that feels like a sanctuary, where everyone feels safe, or one where people are uncomfortable and do their best to avoid it. If you have a business, it’s the people who create the environment where everyone can work without issues or are constantly stressed. In a country, the person who sets the tone for everyone is the leader or president. Currently, the U.S. environment is full of fear and uncertainty, with cruelty on display every day. Trust and faith in our government is falling, or in some cases nonexistent.
In other words, the overall energy is not good. Unpredictability causes levels of anxiety to rise. Being anxious lowers your energy vibration. If you are someone who works hard to keep your vibration as high as possible, you’ve been struggling. People have been doing what they know how to do to keep on their spiritual path, but it’s hard to watch the worst of humanity play out in real time.
What can we do then?
We take action in our own way. One way people on a spiritual path can assist is by working on ourselves. Huh? How does that work? The concept is that what we see in our environment is a direct reflection of what is inside us. Before I really understood what this meant, when my car was my life, and I owned nothing else, it was important to me. I took care of it. The state of my car was a direct reflection of my mental state. If my white car hadn’t been washed in a while, it reminded me that there were things I hadn’t taken care of. Once I understood that about myself, I made sure not only that my car was clean, but also that my mind was clear.
To affect the environment around you, take care of the environment within you. How you feel influences your perception, your thinking, and your actions. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “hurt people, hurt people.” The opposite is also true. “Healed people, heal people.” Your energy can help others change their energy. We all know someone who can make us smile, and all it takes is for them to enter the room. We are responding to their energy.
Not all of us can grab a sign and march in the streets, or give money, time, or food. We are all at different stages of our lives and hold different beliefs, but I think we can all agree that we want to live in peace. Peace begins within the heart and mind. No one can create peace for us. We create it for ourselves. Yes, there will always be people who prefer chaos, again, hurt people, hurt people. Nothing is perfect, but it can be better. We need more kindness; be kind to yourself. We need more respect; be respectful to yourself. We need more compassion, you guessed it, have that for yourself. Then take those things and give them to others through your words and actions. If you want to save the world, start by saving yourself.
