The world, according to you, dictates that everyone should act the way you think they should. If and/or when you mature, you figure out that the world does not revolve around your every whim. Some of us learn that sooner than others, and some of us never learn that lesson. If you are in that second category, this article is not for you. Don’t get confused and think that I mean we can’t create our reality. We absolutely can, but holding the expectation that others will do, say, or think what we expect or want them to is an exercise in futility and disappointment. That includes unrealistic expectations you may have about yourself, especially regarding progress when it comes to the development of your psychic abilities.
I will be the first to admit I’m an impatient person. I am an Aries who embraces my Mars-influenced life with gusto. It means I hate to wait in long lines. I’m one of those people who pay attention to when the grocery store is likely to have the least people and go then. I’m not a “browser.” I’m a “seek and acquire” shopper. I’m like this about everything. Efficiency is key in my world. I always used to say, “Patience is a virtue I don’t have.” Note I said, ‘used to,’ I don’t anymore. The Universe has taught me patience by the busload over the past few years, and I don’t plan to forget those lessons anytime soon.
The only place I don’t have expectations of myself is with my spiritual progress and growth. I know that doesn’t make sense, considering how I am about everything else, but there is a reason for it. Over and over, the Universe has taught me that patience can pay off if I’m willing to wait. Things happen for a reason. This is the adage we’ve heard, and it often rings hollow when something terrible has happened. We forget that it often takes bad things to happen before something good is created from it. People dying have resulted in changes in laws and safety procedures. Another phrase we hear is that things happen when it’s time for them to happen or all in good time. If you want to walk somewhere, you do so by taking one step, then another, going in the same direction. To get where you are going, you will have to turn right further up the path. If you turn immediately, you will most likely end up somewhere completely different. In other words, you turn when it’s time to turn, not before or after.
Spiritual development is like that. You are on the path, putting one foot in front of the other. You may have a destination in mind, such as developing a skill like becoming a medium or an energy healer. Some of those steps show definitive progress, like taking classes and practicing your skills. Then there are times when you want to progress but feel like you’ve hit a wall. This is when people become impatient with themselves and wonder why they aren’t making progress. This is also when they start looking for the “thing” that will give them the swift kick in the pants they think they need to keep going. However, what they probably need to do is stop and take a breath. To look around and appreciate where they are now and maybe glance back to see how far they have come from where they started. To assess how far they are from their goal and determine if that goal is still important to them or if they need to change their direction slightly to obtain another goal instead.
Indulging impatience can put us in a position of desperation. That energy can lead to all kinds of unwanted things like high-pressure, expensive “training programs” and narcissists disguised as mentors who can set us up for spiritual abuse. Remember that the energy you project is the energy you attract. Desperation sends out the message that we are willing to give up our power to someone else. You NEVER want to do this. Instead, when you feel you aren’t moving forward, take a breath. Work on something else. When it happens to me, it usually means the Universe is bringing someone or something in my life that will be the next step in my evolution.
Here’s an example that happened recently. I had a vision of a stone platform underwater that had three pedestals arranged in a triangle. On those pedestals were three glowing orbs. One was white, one blue, and the third was green. I’ve come to understand that these were communication devices during the time of Atlantis and Lemuria. I have a friend who works with these energies. After I had the vision, I asked my guides, “OK, what do I do with this?” They said to tell my friend about the vision. I did, and she stared at me.
She said that she had been working on a spiritual project that she had completed about two weeks earlier and asked her guides what was next. They told her to wait. I had gotten the vision right about the same time. When I spoke to her, I told her about the vision and channeled the energy of the three orbs together to her so she could feel it. It was to be her next energy assignment. When I asked her why the Universe had chosen me to give her the message, she said it was because she was notoriously slow in picking up what the Universe was trying to tell her. They used me to be her swift kick in the pants. She now has a new assignment and I now get to work with frequencies of energy I never have before. My path has expanded in ways I never expected or could have imagined because I was willing to leave my impatience at the door.
