Is there such a thing? There is now.
There are vows of poverty, and there was a good reason for those. Even now, there is a sense of comfort in knowing someone will help you, and it won’t cost you. Most people don’t need to take a vow of poverty though some have in a past life and were unaware of it. Check previous articles on my opinions regarding what should be done with them.
It occurred to me that if one can take a vow of poverty to shun personal wealth, one should be able to do the opposite to call in personal wealth. This falls into the territory of the law of attraction, and it might be another way to attract the highest and best to you.
In using the law of attraction, we are very conscious of the energy we put out, as that is what will come back to us. Abundance comes from within. The higher, more positive energy we can maintain regarding our prosperity, it increases the chances that more prosperity will be created for us. As a vow of poverty kicks in when we try to make money for personal gain, a vow of prosperity could enhance our efforts to increase our personal wealth. It could be another piece of the puzzle in manifesting abundance.
Let’s try an experiment. I’ve done something similar with the gratitude challenge, which I found to be fun and interesting. See my previous article about it, where I talk about it and share my results. This could be fun too.
Everything starts with intention. However you create and focus your intention, start there. You could say it out loud, turn it into an affirmation, or write it in your journal as if it were a physical contract and sign it. Use what I’m suggesting here, or use it to inspire what is true for you.
Use the following sentence to set your intention. If you prefer to craft one yourself, feel free. Say it out loud or silently. “I set the intention and create a vow of prosperity and abundance for myself. With it, I embrace the highest and best for all concerned. I wrap my intention in gratitude and appreciation for all my gifts and blessings past, present, and future.”
The next step would be to let it go and give it to the universe and allow it to roll through the ether to amplify and return the energy we created. We release it with hope and love.
What will happen after that? I don’t know. I’ll try it, and you can do the same. If nothing else, we’ve put more positive energy out into the world. That alone is worth the effort of making a vow of prosperity.
One week later:
I set the intention and completely forgot about it. Life has a way of doing that to me sometimes. I had to think back over the time to see what happened. I had a fun and successful psychic fair. I was able to strengthen a few relationships with other practitioners. Some of them asked me questions about what to do in certain situations, and I was happy to tell them what I experienced. The prosperity there was financial, but it was also in the connections made.
Two weeks later:
The second week my prosperity arrived in a different form. There were major things coming up toward the end of that week. It was important for me to be focused and not be distracted by the fifty million things I usually have going in my head. The form it arrived in was in books. No TV, no computer, no phone calls, nothing. All I did was read for a few days before the stressful events and for a couple of days afterward. In other words, nothing else popped up that I had to deal with during that time. I could completely relax and submerge myself in books. Usually, when I choose to take downtime, something else blows up and sucks up that time. This time, nothing happened. It was peaceful and quiet. I was able to get through the stressful things I needed to much more easily than I imagined I would. For that, I am extremely grateful.
I’m going to reinforce the vow of prosperity and see what happens. In doing this mini-experiment, I have come to realize that prosperity is not always about money. It can be in time, friends, family, quiet time, enjoyment, and rest. If we get whatever we need when we need it, to me, that is prosperity.
