Whenever I start talking about energy shields, eyes glaze over, and people mentally check out until I change the subject. I find that interesting. People are always willing to talk about energy-clearing methods and the importance of making it a regular practice. What I find fascinating is that no one wants to talk about two critical aspects of that.
The first is what makes clearing necessary? What do we have to keep clearing? The second is how can we make constant clearing no longer a necessity?
It makes me laugh when I hear others say we are clearing negative energy and leave it at that as if it’s a one-size-fits-all description. It’s not, but watching the mental gymnastics people do when they are required to discuss negative energy is fun.
In metaphysics, we focus our energy on the positive as much as possible. Energy attracts like energy and builds upon itself. Naturally, we want positive, nurturing things to grow in our lives, prosperity, health, happiness, joy, and all the other good stuff. To do that, we need to keep our vibrations as high as we can. This is what we are supposed to do.
Sometimes, that’s not possible. No one’s energy is like a shiny new penny all the time. We all have bad days. Some of us have health conditions that cause us physical discomfort or pain. Some of us are dealing with circumstances that worry us. Real life is messy. Things are not perfect, and stress is real. Whenever things happen in our lives, our spiritual connections can help us get through them, but what happens when our spiritual practices glitch?
What happens when we don’t feel like ourselves no matter what we do, and our doctor says there’s nothing wrong? Our spiritual beliefs may say it’s time for us to do an energy cleanse, but what exactly are we clearing? Negative energy – yes, but what does that mean? Where did it come from, and more importantly, how can I prevent it from coming back? These and other questions are rarely asked or answered.
Most practitioners prefer to keep their definition of negativity to a generic term and drop it. It’s their way of keeping their attention focused on the positive. That’s fine, but think of it like driving a car. Most of the time, you go forward toward your intended destination, but you always keep an eye on the side mirrors and rear view – just in case. If you spend too much time looking in the mirrors, you miss what is in front of you, but you can’t drive well without seeing what’s happening around you.
With negative energy, it’s the same thing. My philosophy is to focus on where I’m going, toward the positive, but always be on the lookout for the negative. In driving, everyone encourages preventative measures. It’s the same with energy. We won’t have to clear our energy field so often if we do things to prevent or discourage negative energy from attaching to us.
The other thing that escapes scrutiny is that energy has levels. We talked about a higher vibration. There is also how strong vibration is. We often think the higher the vibration, the stronger it is. That’s not necessarily true. Some of the strongest energy often can’t be sensed or felt because it is so subtle. Negative energy also has energy levels and varies in strength. When they attach to us, it usually doesn’t hit us like a bolt of lightning. Most of the time, we don’t even notice until after some time has passed. Things have changed so slowly that it takes a while before we figure it out. It leaves us wondering how long we’ve had it. By the time we notice it could be so strong that we need help to get rid of it.
For that reason, I encourage people to think about energy protection in the form of an energy shield. Intention can set the parameters of the shield for your particular circumstances. Create one based on what you need. If you rarely get negative energy attached to you and it’s relatively weak in nature, the shield doesn’t have to be heavy-duty to discourage negative energy away from you. If you are constantly surrounded by negativity and/or situations that can attract negative entities, heavy duty is the way to go.
Just as in most health-related circumstances, prevention is easier to manage than treatment. If we can prevent or discourage unwanted energy from attaching to us, we won’t have to have our energy disrupted as much or have to clear it as often. If we can keep the positive energy flow going with little interruption, it will attract more good energy and move us closer to the things we want to manifest in our lives. If we have to constantly clear ourselves of negative energy, it means that we aren’t doing enough prevention to keep us on track.
Let’s put this in real-world circumstances. You’re meeting a friend for lunch. When you greet them, they feel “off,” but you ignore it with the thought that it’s probably nothing, just your imagination, or maybe your friend is having a bad day. You sit down and start talking. That nagging feeling is still with you, and you keep ignoring it. You get through lunch, it was a good time, but you can’t shake that feeling. You go home, and you feel sick. You might be tired, irritable, or depressed. You might even feel physically ill. It doesn’t make any sense. You were fine this morning. Most people would chalk it up to their lunch not agreeing with them. It could be that, or it could be that the entity that was attached to your friend is now attached to you.
How can you tell? One of the typical indicators of having an attachment is that it happens suddenly. Such as a burst of anger or sadness for no reason. A weird ache in the neck area. The next day you wake up after having a nightmare or being unable to sleep due to uneasiness you can’t explain. There are other things, but these are pretty common. They are all signs that you have potentially picked up an entity. While you’re contemplating this thought, remember that it is feeding off your energy right now. Not good.
How do you prevent or discourage this from happening? An energy shield. It stops things from attaching to you. This is the real purpose of energy protection and why I think it’s necessary.
