In my estimation, everything in metaphysics depends on intuition. It’s the thing that drives us to take classes, ask questions, and seek answers. It’s also the thing that, in the beginning, we trust the least.
In spending time with people new to metaphysics, they often ask how do I know if something is good, bad, real, or imagined. The answer is always, what is your first reaction to it. Does the thought of it make you feel good or not so good? Does it feel real or pretend?
The other thing people often do is to question whatever promptings they get such as a “push” to attend something or to speak to someone without knowing why. It’s that urge to take that class or attend a workshop without fully understanding why you feel the need to go. This is the kind of stuff most people ignore.
The classic case of ignoring is when you feel like you shouldn’t do something even though, on the surface, everything looks fine, and you do it anyway, and it turns into a disaster. Then you chide yourself with, “I knew I shouldn’t have done that. Why didn’t I listen to myself?”
Intuition is a powerful thing that never steers you wrong if you allow it to guide you. I have learned over the years, sometimes the hard way to trust it. I don’t ask why I’m doing something anymore because my guides don’t waste my time, everything I do is for a reason. I might not know what that reason is at the moment and I might never know what it is, but there is a reason.
A few weeks ago, a friend of mine and I were having a conversation. There was a frequency of energy that I was told that friend needed to be introduced to. It was a weird thought as my friend is much more advanced in terms of energy frequencies as they have already worked with ascended masters and other enlightened beings whereas I have not. In checking with their guides, my friend was told that they didn’t need access to that frequency of energy. That was one of the times that I did question why I was pushing for them to access it when they didn’t need to. My guides told me to set up an energy ball as an access point near my friend and to leave it.
Several weeks went by, my friend never bothered with it and I accepted that it was there for a reason and I might never know what that reason was. Last week, at the end of a fair, my guides told me to ask if there was something else my friend needed to know. It was an odd question as I don’t normally ask that. I heard that there was something my friend needed to know. I heard that there was an entity following them, as opposed to stalking them. It was so far away that I couldn’t see any definition, only that it was in the shape of a man and it had blue feathers.
Long story, short, the energy ball I had set up weeks before was supposed to serve as a beacon for this being, who is a higher vibrational being to find my friend to work with them. The last time I spoke to my friend, they were working with the being on some issues requiring deep healing.
If I hadn’t listened to my intuition and followed instructions, I would not have played a part in helping my friend to heal. That doesn’t mean to say that the blue feather guide wouldn’t have found my friend if it weren’t for me. It means that because I was willing to do what I was told to do, my friend now has an earlier opportunity to heal than they might have had if I hadn’t done my part. This is the power of intuition.
Let’s now discuss what it looks like when something sounds and feels like intuition, but isn’t. What it comes down to is, does it have the potential to hurt me or someone else. If the answer is yes, that is not your intuition. Our natural inclination is not to hurt someone else. There are exceptions to this of course, and another article all together. If you genuinely have no desire to hurt anyone, if you feel the urge to say or do something harmful in any way, understand that this is not your intuition.
What could it be? It could be a negative entity which in my world would be a hostile ghost or a demon. Your guides would never tell you to hurt yourself or someone else. If you are getting a “push” in that direction, ignore it. Better yet, say in your head or out loud if no one is around that you know that is not you and to leave you alone.
Intuition can be trusted, absolutely, as long as you understand that the only time it is legitimate is when it is positive in nature. It can prompt you to act when someone having a bad day needs you. I went to work one day and was getting out of my car at the same time as one of my coworkers. When I looked at her, I saw her twin sister instead. It was early in the morning and I thought my brain was still sleepy. About an hour later, I saw the image of her twin superimposed over my coworker again. As this had never happened before, I knew my intuition was telling me something, but I didn’t know what. I asked my coworker when was the last time she spoke to her sister. She said it was a couple days before. I told her to call her and see how she was doing. A little while after that, my coworker came to tell me that her sister’s husband had gotten laid off that day and that her call had been perfect timing.
There are other instances of friends calling other friends to warn them of strange or dangerous situations. Trusting your intuition could save your life or someone else’s. It can help you choose the right job, the right partner, or any other important decision in your life. Intuition can be your superpower.
