Your Energy Bodies – Part 2 – Mental

This entire series is based on my experience of how they work and what they affect. Your experience may vary. This time around, we’re going to discuss our mental energy body. This is the energy body of the mind. It connects to our thought processes. It holds the energy of our mental constructs. The box that everyone keeps telling us to think outside of lives there. It is also where we can hold things like mental anguish. We’ll be talking about the individual energy bodies as if they are separate and have their own functions, but like the organs in our body, they work together. What affects one affects all of them. Each has its own special task, but they work together and share the burden of all energy processed through the energy system, whether positive or negative.

An instance of that would be if someone is physically abused. The trauma is not only to the flesh and blood body but also to the physical energy body reflecting the damage of that trauma. It also affects the mental body and the emotional body. The physical body is in pain, the mental body struggles to understand, and the emotional body registers it as an extreme lack of love. It also affects the spiritual energy body in that our consciousness becomes mired in our survival instinct, and we can’t focus on work at higher vibrations. Our ethereal body suffers because our ability to freely connect to another soul has been damaged.

For today, let’s look at the mental energy body. The energy of the mind and see what it may hold for us. While our brain’s chemical makeup and processes keep us functioning, our mental energy body helps keep us focused. I’m sure you’ve met perfectly healthy people who never seem to be “here.” Their mind is always elsewhere, sometimes thinking about something else or not, but they are rarely present. It’s because their mental energy body is focused inward. It may be positive or negative, but it pulls focus away from whatever is happening. This can also be daydreaming, but it’s also called being out of your body in metaphysical circles.

I had a friend who kept experiencing headaches. The doctor told her nothing was wrong, and while over-the-counter painkillers helped some, she couldn’t find relief. She also found herself daydreaming all the time. People would have to repeatedly call her name to get her attention. I discovered this when she and our other healer friends got together for lunch. She asked us to “look” at her and tell her what we saw. All of us could see that she was partially out of her body. Specifically, her mental body was out of her body. I saw it as her energy body had floated up to about the waist and was hanging out there above her head. We all then worked to help her ground that part of herself into the Earth and bring it back into her body. She felt more stable afterward, could think more clearly, and wouldn’t have nearly as many headaches in the future.

This is one of the reasons that grounding is so important for us. At any time, any one of our energy bodies could step out for some fresh air and not come back in. This leaves us unbalanced, stumbling through whatever process that energy body is working on. The mental body also influences our intelligence, memory, and language. When we can’t find the right words, it could be that our mental body is temporarily misaligned. It doesn’t mean that your brain doesn’t burp occasionally when you can’t remember a word or what you were saying, but it means that it could be the reason for your brain going on a mini vacation or a contributing factor of it.

When your mental body is out of whack, it may also show itself by being mentally foggy or easily distracted. Again, this may be signs or symptoms of other things, but once you notice it, grounding your mental body may bring you a level of clarity that wasn’t there before. It allows you to think more clearly not only about what you may be doing at the moment, but about how often it happens and if it’s symptomatic of a greater issue of stress or something to be discussed with a doctor. While we are working in the area of the metaphysical, there is no need to completely exclude western medicine. Often they can put a label on the condition that can help us to pinpoint viable therapies and modalities that others have used to alleviate that condition.

Mental anguish is a punch in the face to the mental body. It is direct damage that can stay with the mental body for a long time. It can affect our thoughts in that it can dictate the kinds of thoughts we have about something. It can determine the pattern of our thoughts. Once we start down a path of thinking things in a certain way, it’s like a movie plays in our heads with us coming to a conclusion about how things are going to go. It makes us unable to see that it’s only an assumption we have in our heads and not necessarily a reflection of what is happening in front of us.

Once we are in that loop, it’s hard to break out. We may fall into our “role” in the scenario in our heads and play it out in front of us potentially bringing the scenario to life. This is what can happen in a self-fulfilling prophecy. We think that’s how it’s going to be even if we don’t want it to happen and end up creating it and validating our beliefs. We can’t see that the ending could have been different if only we weren’t stuck in the movie in our heads.

A stressful situation like this is then shared with all our other energy bodies and the pain is split and stored in several places of our energy system. If you have instances of what you would consider mental anguish, start by working on your mental body to release the energy stuck there from whatever the incident was then check your other energy bodies to see any related energy was stored there. All energy related to an incident that causes anguish needs to be removed from the energy system entirely or it will function as a trigger that may affect how you function every day for the rest of your life.

The mental body, when clear and sharp, gives us clarity and the ability to be more observant about the world around us. If you find that you are having difficulty with mental clarity and there is no obvious reason for it, such as lack of sleep, doing a meditation to communicate with your mental body might be a good place to start looking for answers.
