Resonance, what is it? It’s the level at which something vibrates. It’s a relevant thing in the everyday world as well as in metaphysics. The internet is full of information on what part it plays in science. Research to your heart’s content on that aspect of it. What I’m going to explore is the part that vibration and resonance play in our lives on a psychic level.
Everything we do in metaphysics is intended to raise our personal vibration. The higher we can get our vibration to rise, the greater our chances of being able to manifest whatever we want in our lives. That is the theory anyway. Personally, I haven’t been able to get my vibration high enough to create magic yet, but I have had some minor success that has been encouraging. I yakked about that in another post. Does LOA Really Work?
What happens when resonance goes wrong? The LOA says we must resonate at a level that matches our highest good for it to manifest. What happens if we do the opposite? Bad things. LOA doesn’t filter energy. It matches it, whatever it is. If you project negative energy, expect it to come back to you. Yes, it’s that “what goes around, comes around” thing. We have all had incidents when we’ve thought to ourselves that we couldn’t wait for someone to “get what’s coming to them.” I’ve often said that I wouldn’t want to stand next to someone in a storm in case God decides to strike them dead.
We send out vibrations all the time, whether we know it or not. We also have both negative and positive energy/impulses/ tendencies inside us. Anyone who says they’re never mean or petty or whatever is either lying to you or themselves. No one is perfect. We all have our foibles, and the best way to get around them is to acknowledge them. That is hard to do, I know, I know I’m not perfect, but I like to think personality-wise that I’m pretty darn close. I’m joking, of course. Before anyone can tell me what’s wrong with me, I can give them a list that’s twice as long, showing my faults in detail in the form of an outline.
That is part of my dark side, and I talked about embracing your badness in this post: Dark Side: Yours and Others. If we don’t occasionally look at the parts of ourselves that we don’t like, they can sneak up on us when we least expect it. This is when the vibrations of those energies within us can get us in trouble.
What attracts us to something or someone? It’s resonance. We sometimes say, “There was something about her, I don’t know what it is, but I like her.” We also say the same about someone we don’t like when we meet them. “I can’t put my finger on why, but I don’t like her.” It’s resonance, and we’re are used to that. It’s when we are attracted to something we know isn’t good for us, but we keep going back.
I believe it’s partly psychological. A deep-seated need for something. How it formed and what to do about it falls in the domain of a therapist. There are a lot of theories about things that may or may not play a part, such as past life issues, but that’s a deep hole we’re not falling into today.
That need we have inside us could be something huge or something small, but it has an energy, and it’s that energy that keeps drawing us back to things we don’t want in our lives. Such as the man we keep seeing, even though he’s a jerk or the woman we’ve caught lying and cheating. It could also be that bag of chips we can’t stop buying even though it’s making our feet swell from all the salt. Is that just me?
We are attracted to things, and sometimes we don’t know why. Sometimes that pull is irresistible. To break that hold to try to gain more control and mastery over our lives, we have to observe our emotions and become more conscious of our vibrations. It’s an ongoing process, and for me, some days, it’s hit and miss. I think the trick is being more consistent, paying attention to what vibration of energies we’re projecting out into the world, and forgiving ourselves for not being perfect. It’s the best way I can see to prevent what happens when resonance goes wrong.
